SLCH provides a full range of pediatric services to the St. Louis metropolitan area and also serves as a primary service region spanning six states. SLCH has 455 licensed beds, including 77 pediatric intensive care beds, a 150-bed newborn intensive care unit, and a 16-bed cardiac intensive care unit. The Heart Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital is the region's largest pediatric heart center and is nationally recognized as a top heart program.

The Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program at the St. Louis Children’s and Washington University Heart Center offers a multidisciplinary team approach to evaluating and treating infants and children with heart disease, to ensure they reach their highest potential. This interdisciplinary approach facilitates the goal of supporting developmental care needs of the child and family, identifying practical ways of implementing appropriate developmental care, and educating providers about how they can support developmental and family-centered care.
